Canon 1ds, 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

Today, I just received my new toys. Canon 1ds, 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM. I have intentionally left the word miniature out from the title heading. If these photos are real enough, people will be deceived. However, a closer look at the lenses, you can really tell that's its a miniature copy. I have been waiting for this for nearly 5 weeks. The actual equipment is the dream gears for most sports and wildlife photographers. Wedding photographers don't really need such long lenses. However, I will be putting these toys to test in the future, stay tune! Review: Colours on the white lenses are not as white. Pretty disappointed with the painting on the 400L with the red line painted out of line. Some of the words are really small. Well done on the miniatures. Overall, I can say that it looks pretty real. Its the smallest size I found. Its 1/6 of actual size. It is the most real look alike that I found. Some other miniature that I found have a gap between the lens and the camera body. This is by far the smallest and the best.

It will be better when the 50L is fitted onto the camera, the word "Canon" can be straight. See picture below. Maybe I am too critical on these minor details.

Below, Left to Right: Canon 1ds with 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

Below: Shows the actual size of the camera in real size compared to a 20cent.

Yes, this is a miniature copy of the original camera and lenses. The 20cent coin is the actual size (It's not a 50cm 20cent coin). I found another seller that sells 1/4 size of the acutal model. It's larger than the above but its twice as expensive. Perhaps, I will purchase that some day too.

Feel free to share this article with friends.

How sharp are we?

Of course, as a wedding photographer, sharpness is one of the factors to a good photo. Here's an example of how sharp our photos can be. In any photography courses, you will learnt that composite, rule of 1/3, lighting etc are also keys to a good photo. In this instances, I like to focus on my photo quality, sharpness.

Achieving sharp photos must first start with good quality lenses. This is the sole reason why I use high end quality equipment. You cannot make a poor image quality good but you can make a good quality photo poor.

Sharpness can be quite subjective. I don't pixel-peep. Pixel-peep is a term where photographers go into great details (zooming in) into a photo and see how sharp the photos are. With each of my photo, I know where the focus is locked. During my editing process, I do look for overall sharpness of the focused point/plane. Sharpness can be "adding" via post-processing as well. In the near future, I hope I will have the time to give a tutorial on How to sharpen your image with photoshop.

On the other end, you can also have photos that are too sharp. People want to look best in photo. They want to look good with smooth skin complexion. In this case, sharpness have to be smoothen out with post-processing to get rid of bumps and humps. This is generally the case for fashion/modelling photography.

Outliers: There will be photos that sit outside this technicality. Often, movement on dance floor are captured by dragging of shutter speed to create the feel of motion.

Different camera models will have different megapixel. Hence, sizes of photos from different camera will be different. Camera models can contribute to the sharpness of an image but these days, this is often not the case.

Tim + Cassie | Adelaide Wedding Photography

Congratulation to Tim and Cassie | Adelaide Wedding Photography Thank you for choosing Scott Goh Photography | Adelaide Wedding Photography as your wedding photographers. Photos can also be seen in our Facebook page via this link.

It's a destination wedding for two families and friends travelling to South Australia, Barossa Valley. Such great idea to celebrate in a world famous wine region. I had our over the phone meetings and everything work out really well. We did meet face to face a couple of days before their wedding. It's was a joy to attend their wedding. Seppeltsfield offers great wedding venue and great food.

Ceremony/Reception Venue:Seppeltsfield Winery, Barossa Valley

Car Hire:Adelaide Chevy Hire, Rocco

I started the day (with my lovely wife) travelling to Seppeltsfield Winery in the Barossa Valley for a port wine tour (as the photographer of course). I would love to go for a tour in the future. Well, I was offered a glass of water while the guests were offered port for tasting. Of course, I rarely drink while I am on the job, its my work professionalism.

As usual, the day proper begins with the bridal and groom's prep work before the ceremony. As the wedding cars leave a while after the ceremony, our bridal portrait session starts with the cars.

I read somewhere about "the kiss that cannot be seperated". Hence, I tried to get Tim and Cassie into the kissing position and then get the bridal party to "seperate" them. Having the cars as the backdrop, I like the outcome of the photo. Big thumbs up to the whole bridal party for the fun and Rocco's Adelaide Chevy Hire for such shiny cars.

This is the first reception dance that dances with photography props. What a wonderful ideas. Simple photo frames, fake moustache, hats etc...

Yes, Tim and Cassie are now off for a round a world trip.

May our blessings on this newly wedded couple last forever.

Before we being the wedding photos of Tim and Cassie, below are links to our newer wedding blogs. Kindly have a look at our new editing.
