(Before and After) Wedding portrait using the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra

(Before and After) Wedding Portrait using the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra

As promised, here's a couple of photographs from the Wedding portrait held last Saturday. I intentionally took photos with and without flash to show ;

1. How harsh the sun is.

2. How good is it to have the flash on.

The heat

I have to admit that I often get overheated after a day of summer wedding. In this wedding, I went home after the first hour of reception. When I reached home at about 9pm, had my dinner, I have to had 2 panadols and went straight to bed. I had tried my best to stay out of the sun but the heat must have got into me. I already had more than 3 litres of water during the whole wedding and my body still can't cope well with the heat (annoying!).

I started using the flash in the portraits in the groom's place. Used it for the bride's and the bridal portrait session too. I am very impressed with the lightweight of the Quadra flash unit. I bought along with me the manfrotto tripod to hold the flash head. There is this once that the flash unit did not fire when it was behind a big tree, out of the sight from the skyport. The bridal party was happily smiling for me and I realised that the Quadra was not firing! Annoying x 2.

At the end of the wedding, the battery is still at 75% full.

Below is the photograph without the flash.

Warren + Emma | Adelaide Wedding Photography

Congratulations to Warren and Emma | Adelaide Wedding Photography Thank you for choosing Scott Goh Photography | Adelaide Wedding Photography as your wedding photographers. Photos can also be seen in our Facebook page via this link.

The weather on the wedding day was perfect, at about 20deg. The Wednesday before the wedding, it managed to reach 40deg. Cleverly planned wedding and understanding that the weather might be hot, Warren and Emma got a Cooler Box "Eskie" filled up with the essentials ie beer, cold drinks and snacks for the whole bridal portrait session. Excellent idea to keep hydrated and recharged.

The whole bridal party was very easy to work with on the day. They are spontaneous and fun. This makes the photo session relaxing and natural. If you are looking for a DJ with groovy music, do visit DJ/MC: DI Ben. The dance songs were awesome. "Oppa Gangnam style" did make it to the dance floor.

Tips: Finding a parking space near/in Ayer House can be difficult. Arrive early helps to secure a car park.

Canon 1ds, 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

Today, I just received my new toys. Canon 1ds, 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM. I have intentionally left the word miniature out from the title heading. If these photos are real enough, people will be deceived. However, a closer look at the lenses, you can really tell that's its a miniature copy. I have been waiting for this for nearly 5 weeks. The actual equipment is the dream gears for most sports and wildlife photographers. Wedding photographers don't really need such long lenses. However, I will be putting these toys to test in the future, stay tune! Review: Colours on the white lenses are not as white. Pretty disappointed with the painting on the 400L with the red line painted out of line. Some of the words are really small. Well done on the miniatures. Overall, I can say that it looks pretty real. Its the smallest size I found. Its 1/6 of actual size. It is the most real look alike that I found. Some other miniature that I found have a gap between the lens and the camera body. This is by far the smallest and the best.

It will be better when the 50L is fitted onto the camera, the word "Canon" can be straight. See picture below. Maybe I am too critical on these minor details.

Below, Left to Right: Canon 1ds with 50mm f/1.2L USM, 200mm f/2.0L IS USM and 400mm f/2.8L IS USM

Below: Shows the actual size of the camera in real size compared to a 20cent.

Yes, this is a miniature copy of the original camera and lenses. The 20cent coin is the actual size (It's not a 50cm 20cent coin). I found another seller that sells 1/4 size of the acutal model. It's larger than the above but its twice as expensive. Perhaps, I will purchase that some day too.
