How to Find the Right Adelaide Wedding Photographer

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but finding the perfect photographer for your special day doesn't have to be. With so many amazing Adelaide wedding photographers to choose from, it can be hard to narrow down the list. Here’s our guide to help you find the best fit for your nuptials.

  1. Research your options and make a shortlist.

  2. Make sure to ask the right questions.

Research Your Options and Make a Shortlist.

Before you start planning your Adelaide wedding, it’s important to do some research. Start by looking through photographer portfolios and reading reviews to get a feel for what styles they specialize in. Once you have a shortlist of candidates, it’s time to contact them. Be sure to ask questions about their work ethic, rates, and how the photography will be integrated into your wedding day.

    Photography Editing Style

We tend to find that photography editing styles fall into two major categories. One is bright and colourful. The second is vintage tonal-washed edits. Some weddings suit the vibrant, colourful edit while other photos look better with a touch of the vintage edit.

All photographer’s web galleries only provide a small handful of images that suit the photographer's marketing. Ask for a peep into their full wedding gallery for a better feel of their work. If you have friends who have used their service, ask for their feedback and view their full wedding photos.

In Scott Goh Photography, most of our wedding couples love our modern, bright, vibrant colours edited images and the other portions love our vintage edited images.

Photography Posing Style

Posing is a big question that is often asked by our wedding couples. People tend to want natural (candid) photos but most natural photos are posed moment photos. Therefore in Scott Goh Photography, we tend to take traditional photos followed by some natural photos. 90% of our clients printed the traditional posing photos on wall canvas instead of the natural posing photos. This gives us an idea of what most people are looking for in their wedding photos.

Photographers’ Reviews and Reputations.

In general, photographers’ reviews can provide you with an indication of their previous clients’ satisfaction. Google review is often a good source for this. Ask other wedding suppliers for their feedback on the photographers. With Scott Goh Photography, we are proud to be in the wedding industry for more than a decade and have been recognised by many wedding suppliers.

Make Sure to Ask the Right Questions.

It’s important to ask questions that will help you find the right photographer for your wedding day. Ask them about their experience shooting weddings, how long they’ve been in business and what professional paths brought them to wedding photography. Are there any elements of the wedding that might require additional preparation or special techniques? Make sure to also ask about their rates and whether they have any backup options if they are unable to turn up at your wedding due to medical reasons (covid etc). Backup equipment and backup plans are important and not to be missed. Check out our previous blog post ->> Essential backup for wedding photographer blog post is a rarer old post but the concept of having backups are still valid.

Finally, don’t forget to inquire about digital image rights – such as printing and sharing photos on social media post-wedding.
